For 3-4 persons
- Bengal gram split lentil 1 cup
- Onion 1 large chopped
- Tomato 1 chopped
- Ginger chopped 1 tbsp
- Sliced capsicum (few slices)
- Green chilli chopped (as per taste)
- Salt to taste
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder
- Fresh coriander chopped 1 tbsp
Method
- Wash and soak daal for 30 minutes.
- Add turmeric and salt with daal and water and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Dont let lentils mashed.
- Heat oil in pan and add cumin seeds and chopped onion.
- When onion turns soft, add chopped ginger-garlic and saute.
- Add tomatoes and saute.
- Add green chilli, capsicum.
- Add dry spices and salt and mix well.
- Drain water and add cooked daal.
- Let simmer for 3-4 minutes on low heat.
- Tirangi daal is ready. Serve hot with rice or chapati.
